Air Pollutant Inventories

This guidance document, developed by a coalition including the UN Global Compact, UNEP, and SEI, provides a framework for companies to use air pollutant emissions inventories to enhance their reporting within the UN Global Compact (UNGC) Communication on Progress (CoP) framework.

• The document provides a practical resource for businesses to connect the measurement of air pollutant emissions with transparent disclosure, specifically to strengthen reporting under the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) Communication on Progress (CoP) framework.
• Air pollutant emissions inventories serve as a tool for companies to identify emission sources, find reduction opportunities, and track progress over time, while also supporting the integration of air pollution into ESG and corporate reporting processes.
• Air pollution is identified as a primary global environmental health risk causing millions of premature deaths annually, which in turn creates financial, regulatory, and reputational risks for the business sector.
