Effectiveness of ecotechnologies in agriculture reuse: systematic map protocol

This document outlines a protocol for a systematic map designed to evaluate the effectiveness of ecotechnologies used for the reuse of carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus in agriculture within the Baltic Sea region and boreo-temperate systems.

• The protocol aims to address the lack of a comprehensive and systematic assessment of ecotechnologies focused on the recovery or reuse of carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus in the agricultural sector, specifically to combat the eutrophication of the Baltic Sea caused by diffuse pollution from agricultural activities.
• The research methodology involves searching academic and grey literature from 2013 to 2017 across four bibliographic databases, Google Scholar, and 38 specialist websites in English, Finnish, Polish, and Swedish. The process includes a two-level eligibility screening of titles, abstracts, and full texts to extract metadata such as study location, ecotechnology descriptions, and types of recovered nutrients or reuse end-products.
• The results of the systematic map will be delivered as narrative findings and a searchable, geographically explicit database visualized through an interactive geographical information system known as an evidence atlas, which will be used to identify knowledge clusters and gaps.
