Resource Analysis

This guide describes the Resource Analysis screens in the Low Emissions Analysis Platform (LEAP), detailing how users enter data on primary resource availability, fuel costs, and the automatic synchronization of resource trees with demand and transformation analyses.

• The Resource Analysis screens in LEAP allow users to input data regarding the availability of primary resources (both fossil and renewable) and the costs associated with indigenous production, imports, and exports of primary resources and secondary fuels.
• Depending on the costing boundary selected in the General: Settings screen, users must provide either the delivered costs of fuels or the "in the ground" costs of indigenous resources for cost-benefit analysis.
• LEAP automatically generates and updates resource tree branches for primary resources and secondary fuels based on the fuels consumed and produced in the studied energy system, reflecting changes made in Demand and Transformation analyses.
• Data entry for indigenous resource availability differs by resource type: fossil resources (including uranium) require the total available reserve, whereas renewable energy forms require the annual energy available.
