Drivkrafter för hållbar konsumtion på lokal nivå

This report summarizes the results of the UNLOCK project, which analyzed the role of Swedish municipalities in promoting sustainable consumption. It identifies barriers and opportunities for local governments to influence consumption patterns both through their own operations and by creating incentives for households and private businesses.

• The UNLOCK project investigated how incentive structures influence sustainable consumption behaviors and the specific role Swedish municipalities play in addressing these patterns at a local level.
• Local governments are uniquely positioned to advance sustainable consumption both directly through their own activities and indirectly by influencing households and private businesses within their communities.
• Increasing consumption and resource use are primary drivers of rising greenhouse gas emissions and represent a major global sustainability challenge, necessitating the decoupling of economic growth from environmental degradation as outlined in Sustainable Development Goal 12.
