Environmental Loadings Factors Screen

The Environmental Loadings Factors screen is a tool within the TED data pages used to specify and manage environmental effects for technologies, allowing for the entry of numeric values or expressions for loading factors such as emission factors.

• The Environmental Loading Factors screen allows users to define environmental effects for a technology using either numeric values or expressions created via the Expression Builder tool. These loadings are typically emission factors, such as kilograms of pollutant per GJ of energy consumed, but can be any unit of direct environmental impact.
• The screen provides functionality to select numerator and denominator units for loading factors and to convert these factors between different units. For energy supply technologies, conversions can occur between loadings per unit of energy consumed and loadings per unit of energy produced, provided the technology's efficiency is specified. For vehicles, conversions are possible between loadings per unit of energy consumed and loadings per unit of transportation service if energy intensity per vehicle-km or vehicle-mile is defined.
• If a technology is linked to pollution controls on the Environment tab of the TED data pages, the Environmental Loading Factors screen displays the final controlled loading factor and the level of emission abatement from those controls.
