2025 GLOBAL FORUM REPORT

The 2025 Global Forum in Bridgetown, Barbados, brought together over 1,300 participants to advance a just energy transition and end energy poverty, resulting in the Barbados Declaration and over $500 million in new financial commitments for clean energy in the Global South.

• The 2025 Global Forum resulted in several high-level strategic outcomes, including the Barbados Declaration, the launch of the Barbados Energy Transition and Investment Plan (ETIP) which targets net-zero by 2035, and the creation of new Energy Compacts.
• Over $500 million in new financial commitments were mobilized during the Forum, including a USD 500 million DRE Nigeria Fund for mini-grids and energy storage, USD 20 million for rural mini-grid electrification in Sierra Leone, and USD 12 million from the IKEA Foundation to replace fossil generators with renewables in sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and the Indo-Pacific.
• Ministers from 28 countries across the Pacific, Asia, Africa, and Latin America and the Caribbean endorsed a Global Communiqué and Call to Action. This document advocates for fair climate finance, more ambitious climate plans, job creation, and the accelerated deployment of clean technologies, with a specific focus on the Global South and Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
• The Forum established several new partnerships and platforms to unlock investment, including the GFANZ Caribbean Chapter for private capital mobilization, a SEforALL–OLADE partnership for energy policy in Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Africa Renewable Energy Manufacturing Financiers’ Collective.
