SEforALL and the Decade of Action - August 2021

This report updates the activities of Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) from 16 May to 24 August 2021, focusing on preparations for the UN High-level Dialogue on Energy and COP26, the launch of the Be Bold campaign, and the establishment of Energy Compacts to accelerate the energy transition.

• SEforALL is utilizing the UN High-level Dialogue on Energy and COP26 as catalysts for the energy transition, specifically through the development of Energy Compacts. As part of this, the IKEA Foundation and The Rockefeller Foundation announced a USD 1 billion fund intended to scale up distributed renewable energy globally.
• Through its own Energy Compact as part of the Universal Energy Facility, SEforALL aims to provide more than 2 million new energy connections by 2023. This initiative is expected to create approximately 2 million jobs, displace at least 1 million fossil-fuel-based generators, and reduce CO2 emissions by 4 MT.
• In March 2021, SEforALL launched the 'Be Bold' campaign to encourage governments, businesses, financial institutions, and citizens to take action toward achieving SDG7. The campaign includes a video series titled 'Bold Conversations' featuring the CEO interviewing leaders in the energy transition.
