SPONSOR A DELEGATE ANNIVERSARY CAMPAIGN

The South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) is seeking funding through its 80th anniversary 'Sponsor a Delegate' campaign to support YOUTH@SAIIA. This initiative provides youth development through Model UN, inter-school quizzes, and an Environmental Sustainability Project, reaching over 5,000 participants in 2013. The campaign offers tiered sponsorship options ranging from R 200 to R 10,000 to cover costs such as transport, materials, and equipment.

• The South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2014 and has been ranked as the leading think tank in sub-Saharan Africa by the University of Pennsylvania Global Think Tank Survey for five consecutive years.
• The YOUTH@SAIIA initiative coordinates three primary programmes: the Environmental Sustainability Project (ESP), Model United Nations (MUN), and Inter-school Quizzes, all of which feed into an annual SAIIA Young Leaders Conference. In 2013, these programmes reached over 5,000 learners, university students, and high school educators.
• The Environmental Sustainability Project (ESP) is a competition for learners in grades 10–12 that requires them to research environmental sustainability and propose solutions to policymakers at local, national, or international levels.
• For its 80th anniversary, SAIIA launched the 'Sponsor a Delegate' campaign to fund YOUTH@SAIIA. While learners are not charged, the average cost per delegate to SAIIA is R 500. Funding is sought for library resources, audio-visual equipment, start-up funding for new programmes, and learner assistance for transport and materials.
• The 'Sponsor a Delegate' campaign offers four levels of giving: contributing towards a delegate (R 200), sponsoring a delegate (R 500), sponsoring a delegation (R 2,000), or sponsoring a school's participation (R 10,000).
