• South Africa advocates for the reform of the UN Security Council to rectify inequitable power relations and supports the elimination of weapons of mass destruction, highlighted by the July 2010 entry into force of the Pelindaba Treaty establishing a Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone in Africa.
• Regarding the Middle East, South Africa urges a peaceful solution in the MENA region and calls for the creation of a Palestinian state based on 1967 borders, while noting a lack of progress in the Arab-Israeli peace process since September 2010.
