REGIONAL BUSINESS BARRIERS UNLOCKING ECONOMIC POTENTIAL IN SOUTHERN AFRICA

These case studies cover a range of specific barriers and opportunities, including access to finance in Malawi, the fuel ethanol market in SADC, alternative energy in mining, access to medicines in Southern Africa, the SADC univisa, regional transit bonds, non-tariff barriers at Beit Bridge, the Non-Tariff Barrier Monitoring Mechanism, and logistics development regarding Walvis Bay and its adjacent corridors.
• The GIZ ProSPECT project, which contributed to the report, is funded by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and is based in Gaborone, Botswana. Its primary objective is to "strengthen the economic and trade policy capacities and performance in SADC" through collaboration with the SADC Secretariat, private sector entities, and individual SADC member states.
