Membership Contract

This document is a membership contract and privacy policy for ARE AISBL, a global association for the decentralised renewable energy (DRE) sector. It outlines a tiered fee structure for corporate and not-for-profit members based on turnover and staff size, establishes membership terms governed by Belgian law, and details the association's data handling practices in compliance with GDPR.

• ARE AISBL offers two primary membership types: Corporate Members (for all businesses) and Associate Members (for all not-for-profit organisations). Corporate membership fees are tiered based on annual turnover, ranging from 1,643.24 EUR for those under 1 million to 24,648.56 EUR for those over 30 million. Associate membership fees are tiered by employee count, ranging from 1,643.24 EUR for under 5 employees to 8,216.19 EUR for over 50 employees. Both categories have an optional 'Leading Member' tier priced at 32,864.75 EUR.
• Membership terms include a calendar year duration from 1 January to 31 December, a one-time administrative fee of 280 EUR for new members, and annual fee indexing based on the health price index in Belgium. Members wishing to withdraw must notify the CEO in writing before 1 September for the withdrawal to take effect on 1 January of the following year.
• The association represents the decentralised renewable energy (DRE) sector for rural electrification in developing and emerging countries. Its membership application tracks expertise across various business models (such as PAYGO, ESCOs, and BOT), technologies (including Solar PV, Wind, Bioenergy, and Hydrogen), and activity areas (Urban, Peri-urban, Rural, and Islands).
• ARE's privacy policy states that personal data is processed in accordance with the Belgian Data Protection Act of 8th December 1992 and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Data is stored on servers managed by Dreamhost, and the association's liability for breaches of the privacy policy or legislation is capped at 1,000 EUR.
