CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FOR DRE COMPANIES ARE INVESTMENT ACADEMY 2025 - SME Accelerator Programme “Energy Access Finance & Investor relations/expectations” Training & capacity building programme for companies active in the decentralised renewable energy sector in Africa

The Alliance for Renewable Electrification (ARE) is seeking expressions of interest for its 2025 Investment Academy, a hybrid training programme running from 31 March to 17 October 2025. The programme is designed to help up to 12 early-stage decentralised renewable energy (DRE) SMEs in sub-Saharan Africa improve their access to finance and investor relations through eight training modules, culminating in a pitching session to financiers in Nairobi, Kenya.

• The ARE Investment Academy 2025 is a hybrid training programme consisting of 8 modules delivered between 31 March and 17 October 2025. The curriculum is split into two mandatory components: 'Energy Access Finance' and 'Investor Relations & Expectations'.
• The programme targets up to 12 early-stage DRE companies from sub-Saharan African countries. Priority is given to companies that are at least 51% locally owned or managed, have an annual turnover under USD 1,000,000, and serve last-mile clients or women customers.
• The Academy places a specific emphasis on inclusivity, targeting a minimum of 50% participation from women-owned or -led businesses, as well as young entrepreneurs under the age of 30.
• Training is free of charge and includes a free ticket to the ARE Energy Access Investment Forum (EAIF) 2025 in Kampala, Uganda, and a discounted ticket to the African Inclusive Finance Week in Nairobi, Kenya. Participants may be eligible for a travel and accommodation lump sum of up to EUR 500.
• The programme concludes with a pitching session at the African Inclusive Finance Week in Nairobi, where participants present to a jury of financiers. The most attractive project will receive a prize during an Awards Ceremony.
• The Investment Academy is supported by GET.invest, a European programme funded by Austria, Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden, and the European Union to mobilise investment in renewable energy in developing countries.
