An Introduction to Corporate Transition Assessments in India

This guide introduces Corporate Transition Assessments (CTAs) as a forward-looking framework for Indian banks to evaluate the transition readiness, risks, and opportunities of their corporate clients, moving beyond traditional reliance on historical data.

• Indian banks face risks where policy changes and shifts in consumer demand may lower the creditworthiness of borrowers that are not climate-aligned, but they also have opportunities to grow their loan books through green sector investments and client transition efforts.
• Corporate Transition Assessments (CTAs) provide a forward-looking alternative to traditional historical data for credit appraisals and risk management, evaluating companies across three specific dimensions: accountability, feasibility, and strategy and ambition.
