RMI has released the Plastics Extrusion and Molding Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reporting Guidance to improve emissions transparency across the plastics supply chain, enabling stakeholders to make better-informed decisions and drive demand for low-emissions plastics.

• The Plastics Extrusion and Molding Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reporting Guidance is designed to make emissions associated with plastic products more visible, assisting corporate producers, buyers, and end-use consumers in making better-informed decisions.
• The guidance aims to help industry stakeholders demonstrate decarbonization efforts and stimulate demand for low-emissions plastics, supported by a data format hosted on GitHub for the transmission of emissions data through the supply chain.
• Consistent accounting methods are necessary because emissions vary significantly between and within different plastic resin types; such consistency allows producers and customers to compete based on the climate quality of the products.
