Nous demandons de la transparence à la Banque Centrale Européenne

Reclaim Finance has filed two information requests with the European Central Bank (ECB) demanding the disclosure of individual asset values and climate-related data for its corporate sector purchase programs. The organization argues that the current lack of transparency prevents stakeholders from understanding the environmental impact of monetary policy and hinders the democratic process during the ECB's strategic review and its response to the Covid-19 crisis.

• As of late March, the Eurosystem's holdings totaled 2,666.5 billion euros, with 201.5 billion euros allocated to the Corporate Sector Purchase Programme (CSPP). The response to the Covid-19 crisis included the Pandemic Emergency Purchase Program (PEPP) worth 750 billion euros and an increase of 120 billion euros in previously planned asset purchases.
• Reclaim Finance has submitted two information requests to the ECB seeking the individual values of assets in the CSPP and PEPP, as well as specific climate data, including the amount of assets linked to fossil fuel companies and those on the Global Coal Exit List.
• The ECB is currently conducting a review of its monetary policy strategy, which is expected to conclude by mid-2021 and includes an evaluation of how climate change is integrated into its operations.
