Open letter to the new CEO of SCOR Thierry Léger

Reclaim Finance and 14 partners have urged SCOR's new CEO, Thierry Léger, to end the company's underwriting support for new oil and gas fields and midstream infrastructure, including LNG terminals, to align with the IEA's Net Zero by 2050 scenario and the policies of major competitors.

• SCOR is identified as the only remaining major European reinsurer that continues to provide coverage for the development of new gas fields.
• The authors urge SCOR to adopt a robust climate policy in its upcoming strategic plan by committing to stop covering new oil and gas fields, including removing exceptions for companies claiming to be "in transition", and ending support for new midstream projects such as liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals.
• The letter notes that other industry leaders, including Munich Re, Hannover Re, Swiss Re, and Allianz, have already committed to stop covering new oil and gas fields as part of their net zero goals.
