Evaluating Corporate Target Setting in the Netherlands 2026

An analysis of 28 companies in the Netherlands reveals that none are aligned with a 1.5°C pathway, with 75% of climate plans rated as inadequate or highly inadequate and a significant lack of mid-term emissions targets between 2030 and 2050.

• None of the 28 companies analyzed are currently on track to achieve the emission reductions necessary to align with a global 1.5°C compatible pathway.
• The majority of corporate climate plans are insufficient; three-quarters are categorized as inadequate or highly inadequate, while only seven companies (one quarter) possess plans described as moderately adequate.
• There is a significant accountability gap in mid-term planning, as most assessed companies have not set emissions targets for the period between 2030 and 2050. Additionally, only five companies have long-term targets that are rated as good or moderately adequate.
