International Climate Initiatives: A Way Forward to Close the Emissions Gap

This research paper by the NewClimate Institute examines the potential of international climate initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and close the gap between current national contributions and the goals of the Paris Agreement.

• The 2015 UNEP Emissions Gap Report identified a 14 GtCO2e gap for 2030 between the unconditional mitigation proposals in intended nationally determined contributions (INDCs) and the pathway required to keep temperature increases below 2°C.
