Domestic Landscape of Climate Finance

This policy brief discusses the importance of tracking domestic climate finance to support the low-emission transition, focusing on the application of these methodologies in Poland to address significant investment needs and improve policymaking.

• Poland faces an unprecedented scale of investment needs driven by global climate commitments and the priorities of the Polish government, requiring the redirection of a substantial portion of current financial flows toward low-emission transition challenges.
• Implementing a climate finance tracking methodology in Poland is presented as a way to support complex policymaking processes and provide value in terms of climate benefits and cost-efficiency for both private and public sector decision-making.
• Domestic climate investment and finance Landscape studies have been used in European countries, specifically France and Germany, to create frameworks for financing plans within national strategic documents such as National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs).
• The EU Climate Investment and Finance Tracking Contact Group was established by WiseEuropa, the NewClimate Institute, and I4CE as a platform for stakeholders to exchange experiences and debate methodological issues to meet European sustainable finance and climate objectives.
