Climate Change Performance Index 2019

The Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI) 2019 assesses the climate performance of 56 countries and the EU to inform the revision of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) by 2020. The index evaluates progress across four categories: GHG Emissions, Renewable Energy, Energy Use, and climate policy, specifically measuring compatibility with the Paris Agreement's goals of limiting warming to 1.5°C or well below 2°C.

• To limit global warming to 1.5°C, the IPCC indicates that global greenhouse gas emissions must be reduced by 45% by 2030 relative to 2010 levels, with CO2 emissions declining by 2050.
• The CCPI 2019 monitors the greenhouse gas emissions of 56 countries and the European Union, assessing their status and future targets in the categories of GHG Emissions, Renewable Energy, and Energy Use, alongside a dedicated policy section.
