ABS PICTURE BOX

The ABS Picture Box is a communication tool developed by the ABS Capacity Development Initiative and Natural Justice for use with indigenous peoples and local communities across Africa. It uses eight images and facilitator guides to raise awareness and support the implementation of Access and Benefit-sharing (ABS) regarding genetic resources and traditional knowledge.

• The tool contains eight images intended for community meetings to raise awareness and facilitate discussions on ABS, accompanied by background information and detailed instructions for facilitators to ensure concepts are understood.
• The objective of the ABS Picture Box is to promote the implementation of ABS at the local level so that indigenous peoples and local communities can actively participate in ABS processes and benefit from the biological resources they manage and their traditional knowledge.
