This document is a section of an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) Addendum detailing stakeholder engagement meetings held in March 2020 regarding the Lamu Marine Terminal and pipeline realignment for the LAPSSET corridor project.

• Stakeholder engagement meetings were conducted on 9th March 2020 in Lamu County and 11th March 2020 in Garissa County to discuss the preferred base case for the Lamu Marine Terminal and pipeline realignment in Garissa.
• During the Lamu meeting, stakeholders raised environmental concerns regarding the potential for oil spills from the proposed storage tank farm to impact marine and terrestrial biodiversity, as well as the pollution of scarce potable water resources.
• Lamu community members expressed significant concerns regarding land compensation, requesting that the National Land Commission (NLC) issue title deeds before project commencement and ensure land values are equal across the LAPSSET corridor.
• Socio-economic requests from Lamu stakeholders included the employment of locals and people with disabilities, the development of boreholes for clean water, and the establishment of schools and tertiary institutions.
• Additional concerns in Lamu included the risk of immigration influx leading to the violation of women and girls, the need to protect the Boni Forest and the livelihoods of the Aweer community, and the request for a Grievance Redress Mechanism to avoid litigation.
