Motuoane Energy_Production Right Info Pamphlet(V2)

A community guide published by Natural Justice in January 2026 regarding Motuoane Energy (Pty) Ltd's application to convert a portion of its existing Exploration Right (ER315) into a Production Right (PR) for helium and methane gas extraction in the Free State province of South Africa.

• Motuoane Energy (Pty) Ltd was granted an Exploration Right (ER) by the Petroleum Agency South Africa (PASA) in 2024 to search for gas fields in the Free State. The company is now seeking to convert part of that area (ER315) into a Production Right (PR) to extract helium and methane gas.
• The proposed production activities include the drilling of up to 43 production wells, the installation of gas-gathering pipelines, and the construction of a gas-processing plant for CNG and/or LNG and helium recovery, along with other related infrastructure.
• The project is currently in the Scoping Phase of a mandatory Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) conducted by Environmental Impact Management Services (Pty) Ltd (EIMS). Public comments on the application are due by 23 February 2026, and interested and affected parties are encouraged to register and submit written feedback, as no in-person meetings are currently planned.
