Exposing the Invisible

This report documents the Second Meeting of the Asian Regional Initiative on Biocultural Community Protocols (ARI-BCP), held in Bangalore from February 18 to 20, 2013, to discuss challenges and collaboration on Biocultural Community Protocols (BCPs) across South Asia.

• The Second Meeting of the Asian Regional Initiative on Biocultural Community Protocols (ARI-BCP) took place in Bangalore from 18th to 20th February 2013 to facilitate discussion among partners from South Asia regarding challenges and future collaboration on BCPs.
• The report examines the relevance of BCPs within the framework of Indian environmental laws, specifically focusing on the Forest Rights Act, 2006 and the Biodiversity Act, 2002.
• The Law, Environment and Design Lab is working on the implementation of the Forest Rights Act, 2006 and the creation of BCPs for the Camel Maldharis in Kutch, Gujarat and the Gujjars in Sariska, Rajasthan.
