CEO Note: Results from a milestone in deforestation monitoring

Mighty Earth's Rapid Response program uses remote sensing and supply chain monitoring to identify deforestation at the 10-hectare level, prompting agribusinesses to act within 48 hours. The program has contributed to a 90% decline in commodity deforestation in Southeast Asia and parts of the Congo Basin, resulting in over 275 supplier suspensions in the palm oil sector and nearly 1,000 suspensions in Latin America and Africa.

• The Rapid Response program monitors over 3,000 oil palm concessions, covering approximately 21 million hectares of land, to identify new deforestation or peatland development.
• The program has contributed to a 90% reduction in commodity-driven deforestation within Southeast Asia and portions of the Congo Basin.
• In the palm oil sector, the program has led to more than 60 suppliers adopting forest and human rights policies and the suspension of over 275 'bad actors' from supply chains.
• Expansion of the monitoring model into Africa and Latin America has resulted in nearly 1,000 supply chain suspensions and the exposure of abuses such as chemical defoliation in cattle and animal feed supply chains.
