- Electrification of MHDVs offers three main benefits for Canadian business: significant GHG emission reductions, a lower total cost of ownership over the vehicle lifecycle due to reduced fuel and maintenance costs, and the opportunity to develop a domestic ZEV supply chain leveraging Canada's natural resources and clean energy.
- Several entities are already implementing electrification models in Canada. Purolator Canada deployed five 18-foot electric delivery vehicles in Vancouver in 2021. Ontario Power Generation's subsidiary, PowerON Energy Solutions, provides turnkey electrification services, including a 20-year agreement with the Toronto Transit Commission for electric bus infrastructure.
