sNAPshot: Kenya's County Climate Change Funds

This policy brief examines the establishment of County Climate Change Funds (CCCFs) by five county governments in Kenya to identify, prioritize, and finance investments aimed at reducing climate risk and meeting adaptation priorities.

• Five county governments in Kenya—Garissa, Isiolo, Kitui, Makueni, and Waji—have created County Climate Change Funds (CCCFs) to manage the identification, prioritization, and financing of investments for climate risk reduction and adaptation priorities.
• Developing countries need substantial financing for the development and implementation of national adaptation plan (NAP) processes, which is expected to be sourced from private finance, international public finance, and domestic public finance.
