Strengthening the Geneva 2030 Ecosystem

This briefing presents a needs assessment for establishing a publicly accessible cross-sector collaboration space in the Nations area of Geneva to accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

• Geneva possesses a unique ecosystem for SDG implementation characterized by a high density of international organizations and NGOs, a focus on global issues, neutrality, and an operational orientation. These strengths are complemented by existing collaborative efforts like the Geneva 2030 Ecosystem.
• Effective collaboration in Geneva is hindered by bureaucratic processes, duplication of efforts, and varying levels of institutional resources and culture regarding innovation. Specifically, the study identifies the absence of publicly accessible collaborative spaces in the Nations area as a major barrier to maximizing the ecosystem's potential.
