Supporting Implementation of the Mining Policy Framework in Member States of the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development Uganda: Assessment of implementation readiness

This document introduces an assessment of Uganda's readiness to implement the Mining Policy Framework (MPF) developed by the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF). The assessment, conducted by the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) with support from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), evaluates Uganda's national laws, policies, and administrative frameworks against the six themes of the MPF to help the government target implementation and capacity-building efforts.

• The International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), supported by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), conducted an assessment of Uganda's national law, policy, and administrative frameworks for mining and minerals development to measure its readiness to implement the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF) Mining Policy Framework (MPF).
• The purpose of the assessment for Uganda is to assist the government in targeting its implementation efforts for the MPF, informing capacity-building initiatives, and providing a baseline for monitoring progress over time.
