IGF Case Study: Decarbonization of the Mining Sector

This case study examines how Chile, Indonesia, and South Africa are decarbonizing their mining sectors to align with the Paris Agreement while continuing to supply critical minerals for the global energy transition.

• The report analyzes how Chile, Indonesia, and South Africa integrate decarbonization strategies into their national frameworks to balance the global demand for critical minerals needed for energy and digital revolutions with the need to reduce emissions from coal mining and use.
