IISD Mourns the Loss of Jim Carr, Former Board Vice-Chair

The International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) issued a statement mourning the death of James "Jim" Carr, a former IISD board member and vice-chair who served in that role from 2000 to 2008.

• James "Jim" Carr was a former member and vice-chair of the IISD board from 2000 until his retirement from the post in 2008. He was a supporter of IISD priorities, specifically the Experimental Lakes Area.
• Jim Carr held several high-level political roles in Canada, including serving as the Member of Parliament for Winnipeg South Centre and holding ministerial positions as Minister of Natural Resources, Minister of International Trade Diversification, and Special Representative for the Prairies. He also served as the deputy leader of the Manitoba Liberal PartySSSS Party in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba representing Fort Rouge.
• Carr's professional and community contributions included serving as the founding president and CEO of the Business Council of Manitoba, acting as a trustee for the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, and serving as vice-president of the Performing Arts Consortium of Winnipeg and director of the Manitoba Arts Stabilization Fund.
