The IAI Executive Directorate is implementing CoP-32 mandates by strengthening scientific communication, developing digital monitoring systems for its Strategic Plan, and establishing partnerships with institutions like CR2, FAPESC, and STRI. Key initiatives include the 'Tropical Forests' Collaborative Research Action (CRA), the 'Climate, Environment and Health' (CEH) program, and the creation of the Center for Science Diplomacy. The Directorate is also advancing gender, equity, diversity, and inclusion (GEDI) policies and establishing advisory committees for indigenous peoples and local communities.

• The Executive Directorate is implementing CoP-32 mandates to improve the use of science in policy by developing policy-relevant syntheses for the Migration and Mobility CRA and the Climate, Environment and Health (CEH) initiative, which will be delivered to SAC/SPAC members and Focal Points.
• To monitor the IAI Strategic Plan, the Executive Directorate created a digital system for continuous evaluation of objective compliance and reporting to the Executive Council and Conference of the Parties.
• The IAI is expanding its network of Associates through Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) and technical cooperation agreements with the Climate and Resilience Research Center (CR2), the Research and Innovation Foundation of the State of Santa Catarina (FAPESC), and the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI).
• The Tropical Forests Collaborative Research Action (CRA) opened in June 2024 with 19 funding agencies; pre-proposals are due by November 12, 2024, and final proposals by May 30, 2025.
• The IAI launched a Tropical Forests Transdisciplinary Program in April 2024 with FAPESC, accepting 20 teams from 12 IAI Member States and providing funding for up to 10 seed projects of up to USD 50,000 each.
• The IAI is establishing a new Advisory Committee for Indigenous Peoples (IPAC) through the GEDI Committee, with workshops planned for September-October 2024 to discuss governance and format.
• The Center for Science Diplomacy (SDC) is operational, having conducted a workshop in Panama in June 2024 and publishing a white paper on estuary conservation and mangrove restoration in Central and South America.
• The IAI is promoting open data through the Harvard Dataverse and a Scientific Articles and Reports Database, and is currently updating its Open Data Policy with the Open Research Community Accelerator (ORCA).
