• The IAI is initiating the establishment of 'research consortia' across the American continent, a process expected to begin in 1998 and last three years. The report argues that a Phase II or a new project is necessary to provide the base for these consortia to support specialists in biodiversity, global change, and climate change, helping countries meet international obligations.
