RESOLUCION 1

The Conference of the Parties (CoP) adopted eight resolutions during its seventh meeting in July 2000. These include the approval of ethical conduct standards, the establishment of a review committee for a 2002 external evaluation, and the approval of voluntary contribution levels for fiscal years 2000-2003. The CoP also approved the nomination of CATHALAC and CIESIN as Associate Institutions of the IAI and authorized the Executive Council to announce the availability of new resources based on Scientific Advisory Board recommendations.

• The Conference of the Parties urged members to use diplomatic channels to approve an amendment to Article XIII, Section 1 of the Agreement for the Creation of the IAI, which concerns financial provisions.
• The CoP approved the 'IAI Norms on Conflicts of Interest and Patterns of Ethical Conduct' and the Annual Program for the 2000/2001 fiscal year.
• A Review Committee will be created to conduct an External Evaluation of the IAI in 2002, with its composition to be determined at the eighth CoP meeting in 2001.
• The CoP approved voluntary contribution levels from member countries for the fiscal years 2000/2001, 2001/2002, and 2002/2003.
• The Tropical Humid Water Center for Latin America and the Caribbean (CATHALAC) and the Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN) were approved as Associate Institutions of the IAI.
