Reglamento del Comité Asesor en Ciencia y Políticas (SPAC) del instituto Interamericano para la Investigación del Cambio Global

The regulations define the Science and Policy Advisory Committee (SPAC) as a five-member body elected by the Conference of the Parties. The committee provides advice on the application of science in policy formulation and decision-making, operating through specific quorum, voting, and meeting requirements.

• The Science and Policy Advisory Committee (SPAC) consists of five members and up to two alternates, all elected by the Conference of the Parties. Three members are chosen from candidates nominated by the Parties, and two are chosen from candidates nominated by the SPAC itself.
• The primary function of the SPAC is to provide guidance to the Conference of the Parties (CoP) and the IAI Directorates regarding the design and application of science within policy formulation and decision-making processes.
• The committee must meet at least once a year and typically holds joint meetings with the Scientific Advisory Committee once per month. Recommendations to the Conference of the Parties are ideally made by consensus, but can be passed with a two-thirds majority if consensus is not reached.
• Candidate selection for the committee must consider gender balance, geographic balance, and the participation of underrepresented groups, in accordance with IAI gender policies for scientific projects and activities.
