UNDECIMA REUNION DE LA CONFERENCIA DE LAS PARTES (CoP)

The document records the resolutions adopted during the Eleventh Meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP) of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from June 30 to July 2, 2004.

• The CoP approved several administrative and financial documents, including the report from the Permanent Committee on Rules and Procedures (Document 11), the Alternative Basic Budget Request for the 2004/2005 fiscal year, the IAI Annual Program 2004/2005 (Document 10), and a document on suggested principles for in-kind contributions (Document 14). • The CoP adopted 'Option 2' for the search process of the IAI Executive Director, which envisions an election in February 2005. This plan includes a search committee selecting a candidate by February or March 2005, with the new Director expected to assume responsibilities in June 2005. Because the Call for Proposals for CRN II projects would not occur until January 2005, the CoP must delegate authority to the Executive Council to approve those projects in early summer 2005.
• The CoP appointed specific individuals and member states to key governing bodies. The Executive Director Search Committee consists of Carlos Ereño (Argentina), Adrián Fernández Bremauntz (Mexico), and Margaret Leinen (USA), along with the EC President and an SAC member. The Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) members chosen are Walter Fernández Rojas, Luiz Fernando L. Legey, Rana A. Fine, Vicente R. Barros, and René Pablo Capote López. The Executive Council (EC) for July 2004 to June 2006 comprises Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, USA, Jamaica, Mexico, and Venezuela.
