DECIMOCTAVA CONFERENCIA DE LAS PARTES DEL IAI (CoP)

The document records the resolutions adopted during the 18th Conference of the Parties (CoP) of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), held on June 15-16, 2011, in Asunción, Paraguay.

• The CoP approved the Operating Budget, the level of Country Contributions, and the Annual Plan for the 2011-2012 fiscal year.
• The CoP appointed José Marengo, Walter Baethgen, Rodolfo Dirzo, and Frank Müller Karger to the Scientific Advisory Committee and approved the IAI Strategic Plan.
• The CoP established an ad hoc commission, consisting of Brazil, Canada, Colombia, USA, Dominican Republic, and Paraguay (with Guatemala as an alternate), to advise countries interested in hosting the Executive Directorate. An extraordinary meeting was scheduled for mid-February 2012 to select the host country.
• The CoP supported the creation of a virtual Water Security Center involving the University of Arizona and the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.
