This document records seven resolutions approved by the Conference of the Parties (CoP) during its Sixth Meeting held from June 17-18, 1999, in Ottawa, Canada. The resolutions cover administrative approvals, financial management, and an amendment to the Institute's establishing agreement.

• The Conference of the Parties approved several administrative and financial items, including the terms of reference, composition, and strategic plan for the Executive Council Fund Raising Working Group, the Annual Program presented by the IAI Director, the Core Budget Request for the 1999/2000 fiscal year, and the Financial Statements and Auditors’ Report for the 1997/1998 fiscal year.
• The Directorate is authorized to receive and manage donations from intergovernmental and non-governmental scientific and technical organizations to support the Institute's programmatic activities and Scientific Agenda.
• The CoP expressed concern over the impact of unpaid voluntary contributions on the Core Budget and urged Parties to ensure contributions are made fully and on time. It requested Country Representatives to better inform relevant institutions about funding requirements and Institute programs.
• The Parties approved an amendment to Article XIII, Section 1 of the Agreement Establishing the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research to address difficulties with voluntary contribution increases. The modified text specifies that the operational budget—covering salaries and basic support for the Directorate, Scientific Advisory Committee, and Executive Council—will be supported by annual voluntary pledges for three-year periods. These pledges must be in increments of US$ 1,000, with a minimum contribution of US$ 5,000.
