TWENTIETH CONFERENCE OF THE PARTIES (CoP) OF THE IAI

The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) Conference of the Parties (CoP) met from June 27-29, 2012, in Arlington, VA, US, to adopt nine resolutions concerning budgetary approvals, program planning, and organizational governance.

• The CoP approved three primary financial and operational items for the 2012-2013 fiscal year: the Core Budget Request, the level of Country Contributions, and the Annual Program.
• The CoP elected Scott Whiteford to the Scientific Advisory Committee and appointed Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, and the USA as members of the Executive Council (EC) for a two-year term.
• The CoP approved the Tripartite proposal for hosting the IAI Directorate and established the Terms of Reference for the Committee for the Implementation of the IAI Tripartite Directorate, with the USA as Chair and Ecuador as Vice-Chair. Committee members include Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Ecuador, USA, and Uruguay.
