Reunión Task Force de Comunicaciones del IAI 15 y 16 de Abril de 1999 – Miami – USA

The IAI Communications Task Force met in Miami in April 1999 to review communication activities from June 1997 to April 1999. The group concluded that initial mandates were met, including the improvement of the Newsletter, the creation of an independent homepage, and the publication of annual reports and brochures. To sustain progress, the Task Force recommended extending its mandate for one year, appointing a Communications Officer, and developing a long-term communication strategy. Specific operational goals include reducing annual report costs by exploring publication in Brazil, USA, or Canada, and enhancing the digital presence of the IAI through better homepage integration and reader surveys for the Newsletter.

• Between June 1997 and April 1999, the IAI implemented several communication milestones, including the creation of an independent homepage, the publication of two annual reports, the production of brochures and information sheets related to scientific activities, and the translation of the Montevideo Agreement into four languages.
• The Task Force determined that while initial mandates were fulfilled, there is a remaining need to design a long-term communication strategy and implement mechanisms to evaluate the actual impact of the information disseminated.
• To reduce costs for the annual report, the IAI leadership is tasked with investigating publication options in Brazil, as well as potential editorial support from specialized companies in the USA and Canada.
• The Task Force recommended the appointment of a Communications Officer within the IAI Directorate and proposed that the Task Force continue its work for one additional year to support this role and oversee ongoing actions.
• Improvements to the IAI's digital presence include establishing a direct link between the homepage and the newsletter, integrating a subscription form, and ensuring the homepage is listed in major research search engines such as Yahoo and AltaVista.
