Declaración de los comités asesores SAC, SPAC e IPAC en la que confirman su apoyo al IAI

The Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC), Science Policy Advisory Committee (SPAC), and Indigenous Peoples Advisory Committee (IPAC) have issued a statement affirming the strategic importance of the IAI for the Americas. Despite the announced withdrawal of the United States, the committees argue that the IAI remains vital for addressing the 'three planetary crises'—climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution—and for fostering regional cooperation among its 19 member countries. The committees highlight the IAI's track record since 1992 in funding collaborative research and bridging science, policy, and diplomacy, and they pledge to support the institute during this transition period.

• The IAI is described as strategically vital for the Americas to address the three planetary crises: climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution, which are exacerbated by increasing social, economic, and environmental vulnerability across the region.
• Since its inception in 1992, the IAI has funded collaborative research projects across 19 countries involving over 120 institutions and has produced hundreds of policy-informing publications.
• Future regional cooperation and management are required for critical research areas, including climate and health, biodiversity loss and its economic impacts, and the implications of energy transitions.
