The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) announced the addition of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the American Geophysical Union (AGU), and the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC) as Associate members following the CoP-33 meeting in May 2025.

• The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) has welcomed three new Associate members: the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the American Geophysical Union (AGU), and the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC). The WMO is recognized for its expertise in meteorology, climate, and water, having previously engaged in over 20 collaborations with the IAI. The AGU is noted for its leadership in Earth and space sciences and its influence on the IAI's new open access policy for data and publications via the Belmont Forum. The IVIC is described as Venezuela's primary research institution, possessing over 300 researchers, eight regional centers, and nearly 100 laboratories.
