Asunción Declaration of the Parties to the IAI and its Associates on Water Security, Biodiversity, and Climate Resilience in the Americas

• The Asunción Declaration of the Parties to the IAI and its Associates on Water Security, Biodiversity, and Climate Resilience in the Americas was adopted on 30 May 2025 during the meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP-33) in Asunción, Paraguay.
• The declaration establishes a commitment to scientific collaboration and policy action regarding the intersection of climate resilience, biodiversity, and water security, aligning with Theme 2 of the IAI’s Scientific Agenda to create science-informed responses to weather-related extreme event risks.
• The development of the declaration was informed by ongoing dialogue and two specific events held in May 2025: a workshop on "Science Diplomacy for Drought Management in the Agricultural, Energy, and River Transport Sectors" (26-27 May) and a side event titled "Droughts in the Americas: Regional Priorities, Early Warning Systems, and Sustainable Development" (28 May).
