The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research has appointed five members to its new Indigenous Peoples Advisory Committee (IPAC) following a call for applications between February and March 2025. The selected members represent Canada, Colombia, Guatemala, Ecuador, and Peru, and were chosen for their expertise in bridging Indigenous and Western knowledge systems to address global environmental change.

• The Indigenous Peoples Advisory Committee (IPAC) was created following Decision XXXII/19, adopted by the Conference of the Parties at its 32nd virtual meeting in May 2024, which mandated the creation of advisory committees for Indigenous Peoples and local communities.
• A call for applications for the IPAC was open from 5 February 2025 to 19 March 2025, resulting in 14 applications from Canada, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Panamá, Peru, and Uruguay.
• Five candidates were selected for the IPAC based on their ability to integrate Indigenous and Western knowledge systems and address global environmental change issues: Myrle Ballard (Canada), Oliva Patricia Suárez Torres (Colombia), Francisco Ramiro Batzín Chojoj (Guatemala), Cristina Elizabeth Fueres Guitarra (Ecuador), and Guipsy Katherine Alata Ramos (Peru).
