N O T I F I C A T I O N

The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) announced several new collaboration agreements and the addition of new Associates to strengthen scientific cooperation and science-policy capacities in the Americas.

• The IAI Directorate signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with three regional organizations to advance science, technology, and innovation: the Foundation for Research and Innovation of the State of Santa Catarina (FAPESC) in Brazil for global environmental change research; the Agricultural Council of Central America (CAC) of the Central America Integration System (SICA) for food systems and climate action; and the Uruguayan National Agency of Research and Innovation (ANII).
• The IAI established a Framework Agreement with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the Regional Office of the World Health Organization, focusing on the intersection of climate, environment, and health. Additionally, it signed a Declaration of Interest (DoI) with the United Nations Development Coordination Office in Latin America and the Caribbean (DCO-LAC) to support the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through transdisciplinary science.
• Following decisions from CoP-31 (XXXI/12 and XXXI/13), the IAI signed MoUs to bring the University of the West Indies (UWI) and the Research Center for Global Change (CICAG) of the National University of Asunción into the Institute as Associates. These partnerships focus on transdisciplinary science and information exchange regarding health, climate change, biodiversity, and indigenous peoples.
