The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) is seeking expressions of interest from member parties to host its Executive Directorate, following informal dialogues with Uruguay and a formal expression of interest from Panama.

• The Government of Uruguay and the IAI Executive Directorate are engaged in informal dialogues regarding the hosting of the IAI Executive Directorate in Montevideo, based on Article XIV of the Agreement for the Creation of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research.
• On December 6, 2023, Panama communicated its interest to the President of the IAI Executive Council, Dr. Maria Uhle, in negotiating the possibility of hosting the IAI Executive Directorate. This follows discussions at the 31st meeting of the Conference of the Parties in Panama City regarding the establishment of a regional office in Panama to increase the visibility of scientific projects and capacity development activities and to encourage the accession of non-member states.
• Interested parties are invited to submit an expression of interest to host the IAI Executive Directorate to Dr. Maria Uhle and Ms. Soledad Noya by January 10, 2023. Following these expressions, parties will be invited to submit full proposals, which may be subject to an accelerated selection process to ensure the continued functioning of the Executive Directorate.
