A notification from the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) detailing the nominations and voting procedures for vacancies in the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) and the Science and Policy Advisory Committee (SPAC) ahead of CoP-30.

• Nominations have been received from Canada, Guatemala, and Panama for two vacancies in the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC). Canada nominated Paulin Coulibaly, Chandra A. Madramootoo, Alexandra Mallet, and Barry G. Warner; Guatemala nominated Yuri Asucena Castro Estrada, Alberto José Fernando Marroquín Piloña, Jeniffer Silva, and Victoria López; and Panama nominated Dafni Yeniveth Mora Guerra.
• Nominations for one vacancy in the Science and Policy Advisory Committee (SPAC) were received from Canada, which nominated Margot Hurlbert and Liette Vasseur, and Panama, which nominated Harry Ricardo Brown Araúz.
• The voting process for the SAC and SPAC is governed by Rules 60 and 62 of the Regulations of the Conference of the Parties (approved at CoP-21 in June 2013 in Montevideo), which mandate secret ballots and the appointment of two representatives as scrutineers to control the process and certify results.
• The election procedure for CoP-30 involves an ad-hoc committee meeting via Zoom on June 14, 2022, to recommend candidates. Due to the hybrid nature of CoP-30, accredited Parties may cast secret votes via email to vote@dir.iai.int on June 15, 2022, before 16:30 GMT, selecting two names for the SAC and one for the SPAC.
