A notification from the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research regarding the nominations and election procedures for vacancies in the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) and the Science Policy Committee (SPAC) for CoP-30.

• Nominations for two vacancies in the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) were submitted by Canada (Paulin Coulibaly, Chandra A. Madramootoo, Alexandra Mallet, and Barry G. Warner), Guatemala (Yuri Asucena Castro Estrada, Alberto José Fernando Marroquín Piloña, Jeniffer Silva, and Victoria López), and Panama (Dafni Yeniveth Mora Guerra).
• Nominations for one vacancy in the Science Policy Committee (SPAC) were submitted by Canada (Margot Hurlbert and Liette Vasseur) and Panama (Harry Ricardo Brown Araúz).
• The election process for CoP-30 involves an ad-hoc committee to recommend candidates meeting on 14 June 2022, followed by a secret ballot on 15 June 2022. Due to the hybrid nature of the event, the IAI Directorate established a dedicated email address (vote@dir.iai.int) to facilitate the secret ballot, with a submission deadline of 16:30 GMT on 15 June 2022.
• According to Rules 60 and 62 of the Standing Rules of the Conference of the Parties (approved by CoP-21 in June 2013 in Montevideo), members of the Executive Council and the SAC are elected by secret ballot, and the Chair of the Conference of the Parties must designate two tellers to monitor and certify the results.
