NOTIFICATION

The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) is seeking comments on a new policy designed to enhance gender balance and equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) within its scientific projects and capacity building activities. The policy aims to ensure the equitable participation of underrepresented groups and reduce bias in the implementation of IAI activities in the Americas. Feedback is requested by 22 April 2022 for submission at COP-30 in Montevideo.

• The proposed Policy on Gender, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion aims to establish standards for gender balance and EDI in IAI scientific projects, capacity building, and other initiatives to ensure the full and equitable participation of underrepresented groups.
• The expected outcomes of the policy initiative include the promotion of EDI and gender balance in science across the Americas, the mainstreaming of EDI into IAI activities, and the reduction of biases and imbalances in activity implementation to create a more inclusive research environment.
