A notification from the Executive Director of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) announcing the availability of preliminary reports from the 28th Conference of the Parties (CoP-28) and the 49th and 50th meetings of the Executive Council for review and comment.

• The preliminary report for the 28th Conference of the Parties (CoP-28) contains a summary of procedures in Section I and eight Decisions adopted by the Parties in Section II. These decisions include mandates for the Executive Council to perform an annual performance evaluation of the Executive Director, for the IAI Executive Direction and Executive Council to revise the employee manual to include a reporting mechanism by CoP-29, and for the development of a policy on gender and IAI activities.
• The Conference of the Parties did not adopt the provisional decision regarding the revised IAI scientific program because the body requested the opportunity to submit further observations on the program.
• The Conference of the Parties decided to extend invitations to Mitacs in Canada, in accordance with the Agreement for the Creation of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research.
• Deadlines for submitting comments on the reports vary by body: participants of CoP-28 must submit comments by October 15, 2020, while representatives of the 49th and 50th Executive Council meetings are asked to submit observations preferably 90 days before the 29th Conference of the Parties.
